Vietnam driving license :
International driving permits are not valid in Vietnam. Those who wish to drive in Vietnam should contact any office of the Provincial Public Transportation Service of the Vietnamese Department of Communications and Transport to obtain a Vietnamese driver's license. An international driving license can, and must be converted, but the document must be translated and notarised, which sometimes is a protracted procedure.
In any case, foreigners who are here for a long time (more than 6 months) and willing to drive, must have a vietnamese driving license. Application can be made to the relevant authorities from 8:15 am to 10:00 am. Driving license will be disbursed from 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm)
Documents needed together with the application are:

- A copy of your passport (must show the original)
- Your driving licence and its translation made by an approved translator from the Notary Office
- The Vietnamese application form, with the signature of your employer, yours and the stamp of the Vietnamese company
- 3 pictures (2x3 cm)
- 90.000 Vietnamese Dongs
A minimum of 1 week will be required for processing.
